Long Beach

Long Beach CA is a waterfront playground for people looking to live in Southern California. The city offers deep-sea adventures at the Aquarium of the Pacific, whale watching, shopping in unique neighborhoods, and a thriving food scene. Long Beach is home to several large corporations. The Union Pacific Railway (UPR) and BNSF Railway (CSX) each provide rail transportation to the city. The two companies are responsible for about half of all transshipments from the port of Long Beach. Both companies also contributed to the Alameda Corridor project, which increased the capacity of the area’s highways and roads and eliminated 200-grade crossings. The project is estimated to cost US$2.4 billion.

Long Beach is home to a variety of theaters. It has a thriving public school system. There is the Found Theatre, which is part of the graduate theater program at CSULB, as well as the Alive Theatre and Garage Theatre. In addition, the Royal Theater on the Queen Mary performs plays by the California Repertory Company. The Carpenter Center also hosts several performances, including the Terrace Theater.
In addition to performing arts, Long Beach has numerous museums and galleries. The Long Beach Museum of Art displays over three thousand contemporary works of art. Another museum, the Museum of Latin American Art, is located on the CSULB campus. The CSULB campus has the Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum, which features modern and contemporary art. Performing arts are another popular part of Long Beach, and the local Playhouse features performances of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It and other famous plays.

If you have a passion for art, the Long Beach Museum of Art is a must-see. This museum contains a variety of rotating exhibitions and permanent works, and the museum also has a sculpture garden. Local artists are featured throughout the year, so there’s always something to see for art lovers.

Long Beach CA is home to a diverse population. Residents range from children of all ages to elderly people. Almost one-third of residents are under the age of 18, and about 10 percent of the population is between 18 and 24.
